Referrals may be submitted by guardians, case managers, behavioral health providers, health plans, DCS representatives, probation officers, hospitals, or other authorized referral sources.
Admissions at A Dream Called Hope
We understand that selecting a residential program is an important decision for youth, families, guardians, and referral sources. Our admissions process is designed to ensure each youth receives the appropriate level of care and that our program is the right fit for their individual needs. Our program provides services for youth who may benefit from a structured, trauma-informed residential environment with behavioral health support. We work with youth experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health challenges, while focusing on safety, stability, healing, and personal growth.
Clinical Review

Our team reviews referral information, assessments, behavioral health records, and other supporting documentation to determine whether the program is an appropriate fit.

Screening & Assessment
When appropriate, an interview or screening may be conducted to better understand the youth's strengths, needs, goals, and treatment recommendations.

Admission Decision
Once the review process is complete, referral sources will be notified regarding acceptance, waitlist status, or recommendations for alternative services if a different level of care is more appropriate.

We do not make admission decisions based solely on referral documentation, previous placements, or historical records. Whenever possible, prospective residents participate in an interview so we can better understand their strengths, needs, goals, and willingness to engage in services.

Clinical & Behavioral Needs
- We recognize that trauma can manifest in many different ways, including emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, anxiety, withdrawal, and difficulty trusting others. Our team evaluates each youth's unique needs to determine whether our trauma-informed residential environment can effectively support their healing and growth.

Information for Hospitals, Social Workers, and Case Managers
We prioritize prompt and professional collaboration with referral partners to ensure youth receive the level of care they need without delay. To submit a referral, please provide recent clinical assessments, history of care, and any current safety concerns. This information allows our clinical team to conduct a comprehensive review for placement suitability.
Our admissions team is available to discuss specific cases and answer questions regarding our clinical criteria and current availability. We understand the urgency often associated with residential placement and strive to provide a clinical determination within 24 to 48 hours of receiving a complete referral packet.
Once an admission decision is made, we work closely with the referring agency and the family to coordinate a smooth transition for the resident, providing clear guidance on arrival logistics and orientation requirements.
