Preparing Youth for Success Beyond Residential Care
At A Dream Called Hope, we believe that healing and growth extend beyond therapy. Youth need opportunities to practice responsibility, develop life skills, and experience the connection between effort, accountability, and rewards.
Our Independent Living Skills Program combines hands-on learning with our House Bucks Incentive System to help youth build confidence, responsibility, and the practical skills necessary for long-term success.
The House Bucks Incentive System
House Bucks are our program's structured incentive and reinforcement system designed to encourage positive behaviors, goal achievement, and personal growth.
Youth have opportunities to earn House Bucks by demonstrating:
-
Positive behavior and decision-making
-
Respect toward peers, staff, and property
-
School participation and academic effort
-
Completion of chores and responsibilities
-
Participation in therapy and treatment activities
-
Demonstration of coping skills
-
Leadership and teamwork
-
Accountability and honesty
-
Achievement of personal treatment goals
-
Community involvement and positive citizenship
This system helps youth understand the relationship between effort, responsibility, and rewards while promoting intrinsic motivation and self-confidence.

Learning Through Experience
We believe the most meaningful learning occurs through experience. By combining hands-on life skills training with positive reinforcement through our House Bucks system, youth are given opportunities to practice real-world skills, build confidence, and prepare for a successful future while working toward their treatment goals.
This ties directly into your therapeutic philosophy because House Bucks becomes more than a reward system—it becomes a way to teach budgeting, responsibility, delayed gratification, goal setting, and independent living all at the same time.
